My wife and I are getting ready to close on 7 acres, and will be framing in a 18x21 vertacle roof carport with 14' legs. There will be another 18x21 lean to carport attached to one side. After the framing is done, and sided we will have spray foam insulation blown in on ceilings and walls. We are doing it this way for a faster build, and cost saving as well. I work 6 days a week at our vendors market, and my wife teach school 5 days a week, so time management is a must. We have thought this project out, and done research but are still open to comments. The price quoted includes installation, and is saving us time and labor on getting the framing, and roof on. Anyone here ever tackle anything like this, and have you any pics to share?

I haven't heard of a carport being done, but I know barndominium's are pretty popular, willie did a thread on them last year, let me look for it

The concept is very similar to the pic above except we are only going to have the addition attached to the front just as pictured. That porch looks nice also. We are planning the front door in the same place as well. The upper level is exactly as we plan. That is why the legs will be 14' tall on rear section to allow for an upper level. Great illustration Kvr28. We can get all the metal framing and roof installed for $4300 and we would infill between metal post to dry it completely in. Lot less work for us as we both are super busy.

have you priced out the spray foam? When we built our house it was pretty cost prohibitive, but I have since found a local source for a diy kit

I haven't priced the spray foam, but would really be interested in finding a DIY source. Our local big box stores rented this equipment in the past, and hope they still do. I double checked the pricing today for the build, and found that if I go with the continuous roof instead of the two seperate roofs, I can have it all for $3230 including tax. That is for a 20x21 with 14 ft. lega and the attached 12x21 lean to that connect to the other. 21x32 build. Grant it I have to close it in, but I still think this works out good for us. I can't even get the material for this price. Metal framing to boot.

The one we are going with is a saltbox style structure. Very excited. How do I post pics here? We are leaning toward a light gray or white with green roof, and trim to kinda blend in with the cedars here.
