I had made a thread this past winter how our chimney was plugged, been calling all summer waiting for someone to come look at it, finally had a guy show up yesterday, seems the previous owners relined it with supaflu
but they screwed up the install, they didn't cap it, so water has been running down inside and creating havoc, so this guy wants to run a 5 inch liner down it, rebuild the the top 5 rows of bricks, repoint it, cap it with cement and install a rain cap, the price quoted was 1000 dollars, that seem about right?

I would imagine the price is regional / relative. When I bought my house 16 years ago, the previous owners had the masonry chimney relined with Duraflex. Total cost for the job then was ~$1200. That was for 2 stories worth, installed. Your quote seems about right in comparison. Maybe even a little low.

yeah, we had a 2 story chimney totally rebuilt on our old house about 14 years ago, I think we paid 1800 for it
