Anyone familiar with building a htpc? | Construction and DIY projects | Forums

This may not seem like a homesteading type project but cutting the cord is one step to getting off the grid. I was thinking about building my own htpc for each tv in the house and having a central storage server to hold all the local media.

Does anyone have any experience building one of these?

Can you point me in the right direction to get started? I tried google but ended up with information overload. The main thing I need help with is picking the right components. I am not worried about the actual build.

I found the subreddit /r/buildapc and have been browsing the threads there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
