he's done a nice job there. he is missing out on a lot of vertical space though and any of those leafy greens should be in a raft rather than gravel. save the gravel for root crops and larger veggies.

i've decided on a 5000l tank to start, tilapia and shrimp or crawfish, to support a couple of 20ft rafts, a 20ft gravel bed and some vertical space. i'm going to set up the tank in a particular way that will allow me to open a cover at night and have a few bright lights over it to "feed" the fish.

i think i'm pretty determined at this point to get this one up and running and if it produces anywhere near what i'd like it to (consider that i live in the tropics with year round growing without lights or heat), i can expand it 4 times over in my current location and just do this for my day job.

i'm also not a proponent of SHTF planning. always seemed self defeating to me. i prefer to think of it as independent, independence, self sufficiency and free.

i'm planning on building a geodesic dome around the fish tanks/veggies because we just live in an area that is too abundant. sunshine, rain, wind etc we get in abundance.

this is actually only the first part of an even larger project that would integrate a few garden domes with housing and utility domes surrounded by a few fields and pastures for livestock and gardens and some hemp/oil seed and medicinal crops as well.
