So we decided to make our chicken coop a permanent fixture closer to the house with a large divided run. We have been getting tired of the poop everywhere, trying to put them away at night, egg gathering, etc. This goes under the theory of rotating chickens from their grazing space once a week. I am building a 32x64 run that will be divided into 4 sections that are 8x54.

I dragged the coop over and enclosed the previous "run". To drag the coop I had to raise the front end. I used a jack from my trailer. So we will basically have 2 coops -- in case we get more birds in the future or want to raise some smaller pullets and keep them separated.

This is where it is going to be permanently.

My daughter testing out the new door.

I still need to paint the new side of the coop. I am not in a rush.

Getting started on the fence.

T-posts in.

Now this is waiting for me.

Thanks guys. My kids get their good looks from my wife. I won't be able to get back to this until Friday. I don't know if it is because the chickens are under stress or laying elsewhere but we are only getting 3 eggs a day from 7 laying hens. We were previously getting around 6. So something is up. Can't wait to get them fenced in so I can figure it out!

Maybe a little, not like pictures are showing from here http://www.grit.com/.....z35ZXazyyz

Some of the chickens are getting picked on. I think it has to do with a new environment I bought them ~4 weeks ago), hawks have taken a few, and I have moved the coop around a whole bunch. I am hoping to get them stabilized and then see where we are at with egg production.

when mine molt, they look no where near as bad as those pics, it might just be a combination of that and stress
