I have been wanting to make a new computer table for a while finally found what I wanted to make. Took a short ride to home depot and went to see what I could find for supplies. I was originally going to go with birch for the table top scratched that idea when I found a 2' by 6' piece of pine that they offer. Just so happens that was the size I was going to make the desk. Next was the stain choice, ended up going with Minwax "Ebony" , also used sealer/conditioner before.
Not sure of the name of this router bit, but it was one in my arsenal.
This is the piece of wood that I picked out I love the character it had.
Added two coats of the sealer to the wood wiped off all my excess with a cloth.
Applied my stain to the wood evenly following the grain with a special cloth I picked up as well.
Wiped off all the excess with a new cloth about 15-20 minutes to let it soak in. Also added the first coat of top coat.
And the final coats applied and the curing process is 24-48 so now I wait!
That not looks like an animals eye... Love how this table top has come out! I will be adding updates while I keep building it, planning on making my legs out of left over metal I have around the house we will see how it goes.
