before you say no, take a look at these, I wonder what the life span is and how they account for tree growth

i stayed at a beachfront hostel in costa Rica where you could rent the "pimp suite" which was a tree-house.

Those are neat. I too worry about tree growth. I think without maintenance they would slowly rip apart.

we are planning on building a sorta firetower/treehouse type of structure
