Here's a simple DIY Aquaponics system that won't break the bank and is small enough to fit inside your house or on a balcony. This is a 55 Gallon setup and can produce both vegetables and animal protein from 1 input(fish food) and about 10-15 watts of electricity. The video is just something I made to share the idea. I know it could be far better, but I just didn't have the resources when started building. It was originally built for an elementary in West Palm Beach FL.
If you're familiar with how a flood drain Aquaponics system with a bell siphon works, you can probably watch this video and construct it with your own ideas. It can easily be modified to accommodate more grow beds. You can customize it off the base principle. (Water pumps up from fish-tank to grow beds. Autosiphons and gravity drain and fill grow beds. The cycle repeats.)
There's a 3 min video run down of the building process HERE.
There are more detailed instructions and supply list here on my "Instructables.com" post HERE.
