Uses of Asphalt-Rubber - Federal Highway Administration - Video VH-187 - Recycled tires blended with asphalt cement produce asphalt rubber. Its many uses include asphalt rubber concrete (ARC), open graded friction courses, stress absorbing membranes (SAM's), stress absorbing membrane interlayers (SAMI's), cape seals, three-layer systems, and waterproof membranes. Placement and benefits of each are briefly described.
