Seems pretty challenging to seal a log cabin tight!

I love log cabins there, I know many consider the logs as thermal mass, I am not really up on that concept...but they do have mas and that would obviously hold heat.

There is a place in upstate NY that is Family Owned and they have bee around for about 32 years and even do cedar logs.  They have a set of 'model homes to visit' that are all on one property...you get to see a lot in one spot.  They offer small simple cabins to the big stuff and last I knew they will work with your plans and you then deliver logs or build it.

I like they are family owned and I have heard good things about them.

I am pretty sure there must be a number of log builders up in your area...but, this may help with some ideas/info.

Beaver Mountain Log Homes.

Hancock NY...(it is rural)

I think if I was going to build a log cabin I would cheat and build a traditional stud wall and use log siding on the outside and tongue and groove pine on the inside, still have the look along with the insulation, we had a neighbor that built a camp that way, unless you knew that's how it was built, it was very hard to tell
