Google is saying 42 dollars a square foot which isn't that bad really, I'd live in one.

Great concept...really want to know how it performs.

How does one add electrical and plumbing - in the floor? And this sort of reminds me of the 'tire' builder places mentioned in another topic thread. (but more commercially created)

I would imagine electrical is done in exposed conduits like with older stone buildings in Europe. Plumbing better be done right the first time though.

I'm curious about the performance as well. I still think that you would need insulation but I love the idea. They're dispelling the idea that caves have to feel dark.

The interior pictures didn't show any exposed conduits/pipes, so I'm assuming one installs electric/plumbing via EXterior shell conduiting before backfill? I'm with KVR, one had better have their plumbing EXACTLY as it will always be used because changes would be very difficult is not near impossible.  (rather like slab floors) It would be better if the shells had deeper convolutions that faced the INSIDE where such equipment could be installed. Then the interior could be finished off with either a plaster or sheeting type of surfacing which could be re-worked in the future as desired/needed.

Could always build a raised wooden floor and run your pipes and conduit in it

Not sure if codes would allow - placing electrical and plumbing near each other (on same level) isn't a great idea. Water needs to be LOWER than electrical lines???

A similar lesson was learned the HARD way in Hollister CA after the last big earthquake. It seems that septic lines were laid ABOVE water lines, both of which broke and contaminated the city's water supply. It took nearly one month for that to get repaired and corrected. Mean while residents were on their own for water and 'septic' needs.

Having electrical supply so near water which could short it out could court damage/a fire?
