I would go with whatever the stove has for a draft opening, ours has a 3 right on the back, we use to run a pipe right from the wall to the back of the stove but my wife got tired of looking at it, so now she just cracks the window behind the stove a little until the draft is going good and then closes it, seems to work alright

Okay...good to hear...I was going to bring in a 3 inch pvc line through the wall and run it under/through the raised hearth...trying to hit the general area of the draft opening the best I can.  Will probably snake a air craft cable through the pipe so we can pull a cloth with bleach through it in order keep it a bit cleaner.

I tell you one good thing about the pipe in the wall, the dogs love it, they will just go sit in front of it if the house gets too warm and bask in the cold air

As we were sitting there talking I kept thinking, I am forgetting something, realized it as soon as he had left. I'm not a smart man.
