Didn't forget about this, he spent several days in the hospital the day after I saw him. I did talk to him the other night, he said that if you are mechanical at all you would easily be able to install it yourself. Depending on your local code you may need an electrician for the hookup, here in Maine homeowners can do their own.

The only thing you are definitely going to need is someone to come in and evacuate the tubes to get the air out. You know any hvac guys you can bribe with a case of beer?

The electric part I got covered...I know an HVAC guy that is reasonable for cash.

I think down the road this will make a lot of sense...I got to find a price on these smaller units.

Right now...coal stove it is and the infrared space heaters...we will be good for a bit.

Those are supposed to be top notch and that is what they are using here too.

I would bet that would be more than enough for our place (1,250 sq ft) given the way we are insulated/windows.

The mini split just uses interior air right? does not bring in outside air?

Also, I think they have filters on the inside unit as well?

sorry, uses inside air and filters. There is no duct work involved, all you have is the condenser lines running to the wall unit.

Man K, you are a great resource...I don't want to see the consulting bill you are putting together for me...yikes.

...just remember...when it comes to money ' I would rather owe it to you rather than cheat you out of it'  lol
