well to make it cheap and simple im going manual with the saw.. i have my old saw and it still runs so i will use that mounted on a pivot to cut the wood to length. harbor freight has a 6.5hp 212cc gas engine for $120 that i plan on using to drive the hydraulic pump, my plans only call for 2 hydraulic rams, 1 for the splitter and 1 for the lift that lifts the logs up on the processor itself. As far as feeding the log to the saw im going with rollers and a small winch. The winch will be mounted on the far side of the processor so i can run the cable to the end of the log, attach it to the log and winch it into the saw as needed.. If this is somewhat of a success i will eventually switch everything to hydraulics so in theory I will be able to stand in 1 spot and control everything with the hydraulic levers.. What do you think?
