anyone do pottery? I use to, haven't in years though, would love to get back into it some day.

I'm just going to point out that if anyone does this, they should by no means use a galvanized trash can. Or any galvanized material for that matter. Heating up galvanized material will produce zinc fumes. Yes, you can probably get away with it, but is it worth it?

that's a good point, we have some zinc in our smoker, but the temps are really low, with the temps that gets to, off gassing would be a concern for sure
