they sell these for like 20 dollars, easy way to make your own out of a tin can

i would suggest putting some type of heat shield between the handle and the side of the starter. that way you don't always have to wear some type of oven mitt.

That is a smart idea. You see, had it been me to go at this alone, I would have needed to burn my hand half off my arm first. Yet another reason why I love this site.

i would take the lip off of the can, too, so all of your charcoal comes out smoothly. otherwise you'll end up with 20 little embers landing on your arms when you pour your charcoal.

i use my charcoal chimney all the time. my family tends to lean towards the vegetarian, so a lot of times i end up grilling my own steak on my starter-i don't even bother with the grill. i just throw the grate from my small beach grill on top and cook away.

lol, i use my fireplace bellows to get mine really going. charcoal's ready when it looks like the afterburner of an f-15.

i'm all done now.
