thought this was kind of cool
An old WWII combat knife my friend picked up from an antiques dealer. The blade was a mess, and the hilt was cracked, split, and missing several leather disks. So I cleaned up the blade, sharpened and polished it. Then cut up a series of leather washers, cemented and clamped them together, then shaved them to shape. A little dye, oils waxes and slicking, and the knife is as good as the day it was made. The original leather sheath was also re-done and re-sewn.
