Would you believe I grew up using a lathe and other woodworkers tools? I was pretty good at turning. I've done candlesticks and copied stair spindles, and bowls. That shade looks dangerous, lol. I wouldn't want to get smacked in the face if it split. He's working without an armrest/support too. As a girl I needed that arm support to help me control fine movements of the knife. I've seen my dad get in a hurry and send the knife flying by catching it in the wood.
We haven't had the lathe set up since we moved here to this farm. But we have a n antique staircase I want to put in my living room and it will need a few extra spindles to be complete. They will need to be cherry to match a its so hard it burns sometimes from the friction. Can you tell I love woodworking? Lol
ETA: Never mind, I see a support now. I can't watch the video so it doesn't show very well. I was wonder ing how he was guiding without one. Now I see.
