Michael that sounds like a great idea as the biggest problem I've heard with T-111 is moisture. Are you doing it for looks or to keep costs down? I wanted to use thin plywood for the first 4' vertically to minimize how many drywall seams I would have to do.

for the price and look I would just go with 6 or 8 inch T&G pine
