Looks like it's made for pipe, but should work for rebar for the 20 or so bends we need.

"Bends 1/2 in. to 3 in. schedule 40 and 80 steel pipe"

Should I get the 12 ton or 16 ton? ($110 v. $175)...

They also have the 20 ton H-Frame Industrial Heavy Duty Floor Shop Press ($199)...that might work too and be a lot more useful to keep around after the build.hfpress-1.jpg

For $25 am ok with that...not sure how to bend the bar though with the H...probably need a die or block of some sort?

Tools were a large part of my budget so I tried to simplify where possible. I had some angle iron instead of wood so I bolted straight through and locked the bolts with a nut on both side. Otherwise it was identical to this. You don't even need the top bolt on the left.

Okay...forms all set and secured and rebar placed.  We used the press to bend the dog legs for the step down and it worked great.  To bend the #5 we put one end of the rebar in the channel of the 7 ft back blade on the tractor and just pulled on it...was super quick and a lot easier than I thought.

We only came up 1 length of rebar short. So I have two 8 ft runs of #4.

Backfilled around the forms.

Now just need inspection and dig footer for Chimney.  I don't think I will put rigid under the chimney footer.

Got the trucks set up for next Saturday.  Need to run the numbers to be sure, looks like 14 yards roughly.  Going with a 3500# mix (3000 is code).  The thing that sucks, $9 per yard for hot water...so they can get the right temp for the mix...sux.
