I've always wanted a log cabin, I didn't have the experience or balls to do it when I built my house so I went with a stick framed cedar cabin, it's great but I still want to build a cabin. So, I'm building a log cabin garage for my first run! Start working on the slab wednesday and then in the spring I plan to cut the pine and debark since I've read that is the best time to de bark. Then I'm gonna put up 3 rows of cinder blocks and then saddle notch the green timber. It will be off the ground and I'll put a big roof with large over hangs around it. After a year most of the drying, not all I know, will be done and I'll chink it. I'd love some words of advice since this is my first attempt. Thanks guys!
Never done it but it sounds like a great project roli, are you able to attend a log building class? I have a friend that did and he said the experience was awesome and helped a ton.
I found this, might be worth contacting to find out their class schedule for 2016
