ive been eyeing up this design for awhile too. I saw a cordwood shed and it looked pretty sharp. from cruising a few forums though your location/climate etc influence what wood , mortar mix to use. I'd like to experiment with a round small cabin or shed. apparently these have a pretty good fire rating too.
Well I admit it. I never thought of Maine as being rural, guilty as charged. The concept of construction is also something that I never considered.
By the way, the dog did look happy. Keep us updated on this project.
you didn't get a chance to see my original thread did you priceless. In 2009 we had built a passive solar earth sheltered home. Yeah my dogs getting old, he's not happy much these days, I'm going to miss him.

Congratulations on the closing today. As far a rural goes, I think my house is only one of two built in the last ten years or so within a two or three mile radius. As far as having your land surveyed, the last parcel I purchased near yours (two parcels away) turned out to be more than twice the size what the original deed stated. The deed stated 18 acres and measured up to be closer to 38. Not a lot of time or money has been spent by the town since the 1800s to update the tax maps. The original parcels were judged by rule of thumb on very large tracks of land. Smaller chunks were sold off leaving undetermined amounts left over and often sold as such. Its a nice spot and I am really looking forward to helping out with the project.
