So after a few days delay we finally were able to finish the fire pit last night.
We started with clearing the grass and leveling the spot.
Gathered the materials (cost breakdown in next post).
Had to make sure it was level.
It may be hard to see but we dug a small trench around the outside to pour a concrete ring for the stones to sit on.
So we set the ring and poured 3 bags of quick-crete that we had laying around in the shop.
Let it set-up overnight.
The next afternoon we started with the first course of rocks.
Then the second course.
This is where it got tricky. The pavers the wife wanted for the top were quite smooth and slick on the sides so I didn't know if the mortar would stick to them (I am still unsure).
However, we did the best we could.
A better view of the top
Everything should be cured by this afternoon so if it doesn't rain I will build a small fire in it and see how everything goes. If the river rock feels too warm I may line the inside with fire brick.
Later Homies.
