You know...that is an Awesome Idea.

Pressure wash them, maybe spray them with a light white to bright them up and then a little distressing to them.

Okay, has some real possibilities and is awesome up-cycling.

I could probably just cut the shutters in half length wise and build the cabinet box with a face frame to accept them as doors.  Not having to build doors would save a lot of man hours.

Definitely a rustic feel...but I think a good paint job and well done distressing would be pretty sharp.

I will defiantly be measuring the units this weekend and figuring this out.

....seriously...thanks...a lot...this could really work and be a money/time saver...a good time saver. 

K, I will even give you credit for this idea when I talk to the Mrs...heck, I am already blaming everything else on ya so the least I can do is give you at least one gold star.

We talked about it today and did a rough mock up in the barn...she likes it a lot...really likes the up cycling part of it!  I would still build that  box's and face frames.

So I am saving on : Pex for the slab, Insulation under the garage, Cabinet doors for the kitchen...good deal...

....be fun to see where I blow the budget to hell though...ugh.
