So we have a washing machine, but all of our running water works off of pumps, either from a rainwater collection tank or a well. I was worried about having to run one of these the whole time the washer was going, and since we can't afford to have a pump go down, (literally, we can't afford to go out and buy another new pump) I decided a gravity fed water system would work better. I started out by scoping out the shed the washer is supposed to live in.

The washer was originally intended to go in this corner, (front left from the view in the first picture)

But then I noticed this and it really bothered me.

I was pretty worried about the spin cycle so I decided to move the whole operation to the opposite corner.

Once I had the plan down, I grabbed some materials from Redneck Home Depot

I had dug out part of the hill behind the shed to make a sort of flat platform to hold the rain barrel, and what would soon be the "wall". I used an old railroad tie I found lying around as a base for my blocks.

Then I realized I needed some shims to level it out, so I broke out my handy dandy multi tool and whacked some out of an old chunk of wood.
