Even in Texas, where we have more warm months than cool, I would be tempted to insulate beneath the slab. During the winter months with tile the floors are just too cool.
Didn't speed funk have raised floors? Not enough space for Insulation but an air barrier, and wood feels warmer due to a lower thermal capacity and conductivity than concrete or stone.

IC, we will absolutely insulate (in some fashion) under the house slab. Speed did not insulate under his, I think his bathroom was the only area that had framed joists, in order to accommodate plumbing. Speed also is doing the earth umbrella and he told me he is having pretty good results with that...maybe he will be on soon and give us more insight.
I've also seen (just to give you MORE OPTIONS Gravel lol) of people who insulate with 2" foam everything except a small square in the middle. What this does is kind of what the umbrella does (to lesser a degree) where you can tuck heat underneath your insulated slab. At some point i'm not sure what matters.
