I am amazed how far the threads on our homestead had spread on the interwebs. I have been approached by several people on other boards asking about where they went and so I extended a invitation to them. I know porkchopMmm signed up last night, hopefully some more do also. This one blew me away though last November. I logged into my youtube account and found this message waiting for me

beautiful Maine house

My husband and I were researching dry stacked block homes in Maine and found your link: http://www.mixedmart.....038;page=1

Youtube was the only way I could contact you.

We are so inspired by your work. We just moved to Ellsworth in April and delivered our off grid container cabins here from Pennsylvania. (thearkhaus.com) We want to build off of our containers following your steps.

We'd love to talk to you and hear more about your story. Where in Maine are you located?

Thanks for the thorough online tutorial. Your home is magnificent.

Be in touch.

I asked how they found me and I got this reply

We found you after I googled 'dry stacked block house maine' and found some of your posts. Your step by step thread was inspirational to say the least. We planned to build in that way but a neighbor said it won't hold up to our frosts. We built a strong foundation 4 feet deep w/ a 5 ft perimeter and insulated so I don't think frost will be an issue. We designed our home in google sketchup and scraped our old roof design and am interested in your two tier roof layout instead.

The funny thing is I had just been reading a article on this couple in the Bangor Daily News

Have container, will settle: Couple homesteading in the woods of Ellsworth with a unique spin on housing

They have a great blog on their journey as well

I sent them a invite to join here, I know several people here are interested in shipping container homes. Hopefully they sign up.

It's about 3/4 of the way down. They had a link for your old thread, which is now gone. You have impressed and inspired many of us.

lol, yeah that's gary's site, I need to contact him to update the link, I forgot we were even on there. This woman had contacted me on another forum and asked if she could talk about our house as well. She has a great little site with a lot of different earth sheltered builds
