Over the last couple months finished up a few projects and learned I have become highly allergic quickly to cedar wood. So shop time has taken a big hit since I have to cover every inch of myself.

So grabbed myself a lathe and started turning at home to get my fill of making shavings. So far have turned a bowl or two a day.

Purchased a Nova Comet 2 since I do not need anything much bigger at home and it as lots of extras you can order making it versatile for it's size. My larger lathe I left at the shop since I do not turn much spindles or metal.

Went with a G3 chuck but unlike the sale in the US it is sold separate here in CDN.

8 piece set of Sheffield chisels.

Any other turners here?

Turned this today but will go back and re-sand back up to 600. Tongue Oil finish. All the others I have turned are actual bowls but turned green.

Lid is (dirty) is from around 12 years ago. I broke the bottom but it is re purposed well now holding my wedding ring since I never wear it due to running a fair bit of power tools daily. Quilted Big Leaf Maple and Walnut. Size is around 5 inches wide and 4 inches deep.Bowl-4-010.JPG

I've always enjoyed plumbing,
never cared for carpentry or woodwork -- but I love to watch stuff like this
