HA! I was just a youngster when that happened, but yes, my folks prepared quite heavily. Pretty sure they still have dry goods and propane stashed that they haven't used yet from the Y2k scare. Nothing like being a 15 year old, terrified on new year's eve that the entire world as you know it is going to end. LOL Those were the days.
I was sitting at a corporate restaurant I managed, it was required that all gm's close that night in case something happened, so it was me, my wife, my baby daughter and several good friends, if anything happened, we were just going to back up the trucks, fill them up with the 20,000 dollars worth of food and booze on hand and head for the hills red dawn style!

The company I worked for I was required to go in and make sure everything was ok with the computers. Somehow, I screwed up and ended up going in later than expected, etc. and was in the doghouse.
If you ever watched a show called My Name's Earl, they had a great Y2K episode. They woke up and the town was deserted, and they thought the end of the world had come. Well in actuality, everyone's at the New Years Parade. Was pretty funny.

15 years ago on NYE I was managing a large gas station. I was also required to be there for the midnight shift. Boss came around checking and we both laughed it off.
It was unusually quiet that year. I guess everyone was inside freaking out that something would happen. Hardly any firecrackers/fireworks.
