I came across these guys while on our Twitter @homesteadboards and I thought I should share it with you guys. Possibly one of the most overlooked aspects in modern homesteading/preparedness is the location and preservation of water.

Finding safe to drink water is one thing (not an easy thing for most) but keeping it safe is a whole new ball game.

Anyhow, here is their site.

I do not own their product but their site is pretty compelling and worth checking out.

Their Twitter is @berkey_filters

I did a lot if investigation before buying a Berkey. They seem expensive in the beginning, but each element will filter 3000 gal of water. That is 12,000 gallons with four elements. I like that they are stainless not plastic. We've been using one for two years and I think every home should have one of these.

Their customer service is also really excellent.

What size are you all using? I am leaning toward the Big Berkey because these things are huge.

Thanks!

I have the royal berkey for me, my wife and two kids. It's serviceable for a family of four.
