Tent stakes and no tent? No form of shelter all, not even a small tarp or piece of parachute. There really needs to be a sling on the shotgun or that thing is going to get real heavy real fast. No way to carry water.

I was always taught that your bag should address food, water, shelter and protection. Food is there and so is protection. The others are hinted at but not addressed. A simple water bottle would be a help.

Well sleeping off the ground is a good thing, just don't let it rain, sleet or snow or this hole will be spotted quick.

I will have to admit, I have never once thought of adding a hammock to my pack and I own one. However adding a "net" does open up some interesting possibilities. I will have to add a lite weight tarp to have a roof over my head. I will have to give this some thought.

Personally I think his some serious blade overkill. He would be better off with a mora and a small foldable saw. I'd dump the climbing rope and the seeds too as I imagine they would prove worthless to him. And I agree that is an expensive kit. I think you could build better for less.

Priceless, that isn’t just any hammock. It’s a Hennessy hammock. Check out their website. It’s a complete shelter with roof and bug netting. I have one on my wish list. They make so many different ones with tons of options; I just can’t decide which one to get. I have done my homework on them and looked at lots of reviews. It seems everyone who has one loves it.

I have never heard of these hammocks before but have now. I followed the link provided and spent the better part of 2 hours looking at the site and watching the videos, reading reviews. All I can say is Thank You for pointing out my error. If this is even half as good as the reviews then it should be well worth it. Too bad my chunky butt has to buy the really expensive one. It is nice that they included the weight and height limits to assist in the decision making.
