I have started putting together a disaster action plan for me and mine and I am interested in outside input. I am open to new ideas and all points of view, the more the better. I have come up with four different scenarios and would like to maybe incorporate some of your ideas into my plans. Please respond with your ideas and opinions to one or all of the scenarios listed. All of our circumstances and locations are different but I think we will be able to generate helpful ideas for each other anyway.
Scenario A, Moderate economic and social hardship. Utilities in place, political unrest and inflation of serious concern. Some items are becoming scarce or priced out of reach. If you work in a position that you could be laid off, you probably already have been. If you are still working, due to inflation your pay check will barely buy a single bag of groceries or fill your cars tank. What actions do you take to modify your life from current circumstances?
Scenario B, Economic collapse and societal disorder. Utilities out or unreliable, police response to emergencies is unlikely, crime is rampant, absents of any observable governmental structure, hyperinflation or no trustworthy government based currency. Traditional commerce is almost at a standstill and the black market or bartering is your best bet at obtaining what you need. How do you cope, what are your priorities?
Scenario C, Under current economic circumstances, for whatever reason regardless or your preps or lack thereof you and everyone else in your region needs to bug out indefinitely. You have two hours notice. Stores are closed, everyone is fleeing. How do you do it, who do you bring, what do you bring?
Scenario D, After an extended economic collapse (more than one year) your preps have run out, water is scarce, crops have failed, tradition food sources in your AO are unobtainable. Bug out seems to be the only viable option. Fuel has long since dried up. Even if you had fuel available motorized travel would draw extreme attention. How would you travel, what would you bring?

Scenario A - start a victory garden and hope for the best.
Scenario B - priorities will be the same as always. Food, water, shelter and under the conditions of scenario B, some firearm protection would be absolutely needed to ensure survival.
Scenario C - I live in an area with over 1.2 million people. If we were asked to leave and only given 2 hours notice, you can be sure that the scene here would look much like that of movies you've seen. Mass panic and chaos.
I'd be screwed if I left or if I stayed. I'd probably spend some time figuring out which threat was more dangerous to my family and go with the least dangerous. Either stay and face whatever it was we were running from or go out into the masses and face whatever it is we will see there.
If I left, I'd take my wife and kids and a tent and as much food and water I could get in the vehicle. I'd drive the truck that gets the best gas mileage.
Scenario D - If you've made your mind to vacate your homestead, then it would be best to take a small tent, walking stick, gun/ammo, camping cooking pot, flint, jacket and a few blankets. A tarp and some fishing poles/lures, if you can carry it all. Most importantly, a good pair of walking shoes and a couple of pair of dry socks.
All of these possible scenarios lean towards one common solution.
buy some land with a well or water feature and start farming asap. unless there is a direct threat to your rural area, you should be set.

We have been positioning ourselves for something like this for years, I look at the price of goods right now and am scared to think what costs will be when we are in our 60's and beyond so we are trying to create a situation where we need minimal money and items from the store, Ideally we want to be able to be about 90% self sufficient which would be a perfect world for us

Utilities out or unreliable, police response to emergencies is unlikely, crime is rampant, absents of any observable governmental structure, hyperinflation or no trustworthy government based currency. I would contact my brother and family and have them come to us, we are probably in the best situation to cope with such a scenario out of our family. Hopefully our cabin would be finished and we would quietly move all our belongings out to that location
Scenario C, Under current economic circumstances, for whatever reason regardless or your preps or lack thereof you and everyone else in your region needs to bug out indefinitely. If we had to leave the area, I would head home to Pa. It takes 30 gallons of gas to make the 625 mile trip. We always keep the tank on our vehicle full and have at least 30 gallons of gas on hand due to generator, lawn mowers etc, so we could make it with out the need to refuel, we have a trailer that would hold all contents of my pantry, library and tools. it would be just us and my father, probably my wife and daughter would drive the truck and my father and I would scout ahead on our motorcycles
Scenario D, After an extended economic collapse (more than one year) your preps have run out, water is scarce, crops have failed, tradition food sources in your AO are unobtainable. Again, we would probably head to Pa obviously not taking as much, just basic camping gear and such that we could carry, due to the fact that going over road would be dangerous because of the route going through high population areas, we would hit the appalachian trail with mountain bikes and cut west as soon as we got into
Pa
