Like I said earlier in this thread... The city government here is CORRUPT.
I really want to believe that Flint can be another success story like Pittsburgh; a Rustbelt city that reinvents itself in the post-industrial age... However, this sort of garbage is why things never change around here. I could tell you horror stories about how hard the city government works to stand in the way of urban farmers, entrepreneurs, or anyone else interested in progress in our city...
It's pretty crazy the city is still charging the residents for contaminated water.
FLINT – Residents of the impoverished City of Flint pay some of the highest water bills in Michigan. And those bills have not stopped coming or been reduced since state and local officials acknowledged the water is unsafe to drink without filtering.
That's wrong, says a growing chorus of residents and advocates.
They say the State of Michigan — which has acknowledged significant responsibilityfor the lead contamination of Flint's drinking water, which began in April 2014 and continues to pose a health threat today — should be picking up some or all of the tab.
Given the potential health and infrastructure implications of the Flint drinking water crisis, the water bill issue could be small change in the big picture. But it's galling for residents who get big invoices for water they now know they can't drink, and that — in some cases — they and their families consumed before knowing it wasn't safe. Lead can cause permanent brain damage in children.

I saw on the news where they are handing out bottled water left and right. I believe the Nat'l Guard was helping out a lot with this...the thing is, how long can they afford to hand out water...there has to be a limit???.
Would a Berky take care of the contaminants?

I believe the state is footing the bill for the water at this point. I don't think they have even developed a long term solution yet.
looks like the National Guard is being called in
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday night activated the state’s National Guardto assist with the ongoing crisis involving the city of Flint's drinking water, officials said.
Members of the National Guard are expected to staff fire stations and distribute bottles of water, freeing members of the American Red Cross to handle the door-to-door distribution of water and water filters, according to Snyder’s chief of staff, Jarrod Agen.
Snyder issued the executive order to mobilize the Guard amid ongoing criticism that he and his administration have moved too slowly to respond to the crisis.
