So this weekend, they're predicting 16-24" of snow. That's on the high side for us, but not totally unusual. We get a snow fall like this every couple years. So, much like everyone else, I was at the grocery store yesterday getting the staples. "Bread, milk and toilet paper". While I've seen this before (and possibly even discussed here) I'm amazed at how hard the grocery store had been hit and how barren he shelves were. I even commented to one of the employees, "I can only imagine if it were a real disaster". The meat and bread seemed the heaviest hit. Virtually no chicken left except wings and jumbo packs of drumsticks. No ground beef left. This all for a snowfall that will have people home bound for 2-3 days. The next time someone questions your decision to prep, simply ask them, "Have you ever seen a grocery store right before a blizzard?"

The storm is expected to miss us by 150 miles or so. A good thing.
They showed on the news that snow shovels and salt were already sold out at the local stores. The owner of a Ace Hardware store said they really don't stock a lot of those items since they don't have a ton of winter snow.
In my snowy area there is a run on bread, milk, soup and such when there is a big snow event expected...most people are pretty good here. The biggest thing people here in the burbs forget or don't bother with is water.
Two things that always run out here are roof rakes and rock salt. They restock through out the season, but it seems to sell out left and right within a day. Hard to get even solar salt for water softeners.
