I am really hoping we don't get the worst of it this time around. Based on what they are predicting we are just on the cusp of where it will be turning to snow, so it could go either way.
Cool map of 1998. We were in the 80 mm zone for that one (I had not moved to Ottawa yet as I was still freeloading off my parents and in high school) and had no power in the city for 2 or 3 days. I remember going for a walk with my dad one night and a passenger train came through the town, it was crazy to watch this spear of light zoom past in an entirely pitch black city.
thanks, yeah we should be good, I am amazed at peoples lack of preparedness for something this simple, I asked everyone at work if they had set some water aside, some said yeah 5 gallons, others said for what? Um they are calling for ice from .5 to 1 inch in the next 36 hours with high winds, we had 1.5 inches in 98 and that was overs a weeks time, there is a good chance we are losing power. Suffice to say, everyone is now going home to fill their bathtubs and look for the breaker for the hot water tank and the drain valve if needed
it's been switching back and forth all night, looks like it's just freezing right now,
lol, Dad never checked to make sure our salt spreader worked, so we put it on the back of the truck last night and plugged it in, nothing, I think the motor is shot, looks I'll be salting the parking lot by hand when this is over
