I've always been a weather/earth/space science nerd.  Really cool article.

who needs supplies when you have a dorito truck?

If you're stranded on a snowy highway, The Associated Press has some good tips for what to do. Stealing food from abandoned delivery trucks isn't one of them.

According to The Public, several social media users have reported seeing a Doritos truck in South Buffalo, apparently abandoned by its driver in the lake effect snow storm. The vehicle appeared to be stuck in several feet of snow.

Photos showed several people entering the back of the truck, and leaving with snacks.

"Just saw apparently some people stole Doritos out of an abandoned truck. Doritomageddon?" Eddie Lee wrote on Twitter.

Jeremy Cohn of Toronto's Global News tweeted that he "saw several men stealing chips from inside this abandoned Doritos truck" as well. He also posted a picture of the vehicle with its back door wide open.

"Just some people casually robbing the Doritos truck on Seneca Street. How typical," Angela Oestereich of Buffalo added on Facebook, along with photos of the alleged perpetrators.

Several social media users responded to the photos with jokes about looting, ranging from "Snow law: there are no laws!" to "Stay classy south Buffalo." Others commented on how "addictive" Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch potato chips can be.

Doritos and its parent company Frito-Lay have not made any public statements on the alleged incident.

As many as 150 vehicles have been stranded on the New York State Thruway, which remains closed west of Rochester. At least five deaths in Western New York have been blamed on the historic winter storm, which has covered parts of the region with more than five feet of lake effect snow.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in the area, extending partially into Central New York. American Red Cross emergency shelters remain open in 10 Buffalo-area locations.
