the mormon church requesta each church member store a years supply of food on hand, here is a visual representation of their minimum recommendations.

that would be enough to make a loaf of bread a day and 1/3 cup of beans which would supply 2300 calories a day, thought it was interesting

Yes, I wonder if there is an instruction manual or something that shows how to divide it up and prepare it throughout the year.

This would be a great start, at least. You could also save up extras like home canned veggies and fruits, dried spices, relishes and pickles. Plus bought things like some chocolate chips, raisins, etc.

That's the ration for 1 person. I could not only SURVIVE off of that as my daily caloric intake, but THRIVE. You have to think about it as this is what I have stored to help me survive the hard times, but these rations will be supplemented by whatever I can grow/hunt. More then enough until you can get that deer or whatever imo.
