I think for most folks it is the 3D image scanner that gets pricey.

Here is one that uses Arduino, which I have been using (program and boards) with some Neuro stuff.

I remember reading last year a lot of people were uploading their scans for an open source database, have you tested any of those at all?

There is probably hundreds of thousands (million?) of open source designs and scans online now for free.

I do not bother printing, I have enough crap and trinkets already. 

My interest is more along mass construction/production and R&D design in a hillbilly way.

Building base materials for the printers is just too expensive here to play. If staying was going to go this way and make my own filament.

Thinking after the move I will make bobble-heads and busts.

I think we need a resurgence of busts. Just something timeless about them.

Want to try this bronze filament material with bobbles and busts.

There is wood, lime, iron and other filaments as well now. Which makes me happy since I am not a fan of the plastic look or finish.
