Not sure if this relates to the thread, but I just mentioned to some friends, that it is amazing and or alarming
the amount of people who bring up the subject of "something happening" these days.
The most interesting part is the people making the comments or conversation are not the type or stereotypical demographic that you would expect in the old days.
And to be clear I am not talking about your over the top garden variety kooks that can be found at the usual places, gun shows etc.
Will fill in some details a bit later.
I think that when something does happen it wont be a sudden, nuclear bomb kind of thing, I think it'll start small, like a market crash, and then spiral downward from sheer momentum. Market crashes, banks fail, government tries to step in and they fail, other countries dependent on us fail, perhaps we get attacked in our weakened state or maybe the world economy collapses. Wars break out, somebody lets off an EMP, civil war starts, rioting and looting and on and on. I think its more likely to occur that way than Russia just creeping up and bombing us. At least I'd hope so because you could kind of see it coming a bit and you'd have more time to prepare. At least I'd hope so because its kind of scary to think that *BOOM* you're on your own with what you got with no chance to prepare further.

it just takes one person to change a crowd.
educating people is the key imo. when i tell in my office that its possible to hunt in SoCal they think i'm full of it. when i show them websites and classes on what to do and where to go they're blown away. same with large plots of land. when i tell them you can find acreage in socal they think i'm lying. then i show them this:
http://www.trulia.co.....2#photo-12
10 acres for 79K only 30-40 minutes from san diego.
that gets the wheels turning. then what ends up happening is they want more knowledge. so i end up pointing them here and to other like minded sites. its a slow process, but we're the pioneers in a strange way. without us, the Kardashians will take over the world... and that CAN NOT be allowed... lol

thats one of a few that i've had my eye on. i know its priced ridiculously high by most peoples standards, but for us out here in SoCal its almost unheard of. the crazy thing is there are plenty of properties like this in and around LA/OC/San Diego County, most people are just programmed to believe they HAVE to live in the city. the idea that you can go out into the country and make it on your own is just completely foreign to most people. its up to us to change that mindset.
