Anyone watch it? What are your thoughts? Thoughts on Cody's new partner?
Personally, I didn't care for the guy. If I had a dollar for every time they referred to his being a member of a "secret counter-terrorism group", etc. I'd be rich. Also, with them getting rid of Dave, to me that changes the dynamic of the show. Now it makes Cody seem like the "boss" and the show is centered around him. Could just be my perception though. The new guy just doesn't seem like an "equal".

There were two episodes. One was a fluff episode which was an introduction to the new guy, etc. and clips from the upcoming season.
The second was the real episode. imo, its lost some of the charm. Maybe I'm wrong, but I always felt Dave and Cody were friends and liked each other. There was a good chemistry between them. Just not feeling it with the new guy. But change is hard.

I remember watching the first show in season one. Cody and Dave argued about everything. Then when it was time to shelter in for the night Cody built a shelter out of plastic sheeting and used an emergency blanket to reflect the heat from behind them as they slept between the reflector and the fire and it kept them warm all night. After that Dave took him a little more seriously and they worked into a natural rhythm and the shows went on and it became much more watchable. They began to cooperate and play off of each other's strengths. They still argued about survival philosophies a bit but there was at least a dynamic at work.
Last night's show remided me of the first show. There was a bit of bravado and a "my way is better" feel coming from Jim and Cody since they havent fallen into a comfortable working relationship yet. I had the impression the producers were going overboard with Jim's credentials after the truth came out about Dave's career. For a survival show to be successful, the hosts need to be legit and I think the show is now overcompensating.
I hope they get into that groove that Dave and Cody were in and I agree with ET that right now they appear a little dysfunctional.
