Missouri is saying the tweets are fake
While I'm quite sure some are, I'm also sure that many were dead serious. It's unfortunate that we have to rely on anonymous digital posts for anything as it makes it incredibly hard to discern at times what is real and what isn't. It's quite easy to say after the fact "It wasn't me", "That's not us", "I was hacked". It would be believable it they hadn't been so ridiculous in the first place and also use social media to the extent that they do.
Also, LOL at Mizzou claiming it's not related to them. A) there's no real way to be sure outside of the organization itself stating publicly that they don't endorse that line of thinking and B) by acting in solidarity with numerous other campuses and activist groups to push an agenda, its all tied together; and even if Mizzou or it students aren't directly responsible for the tweets there are many other associated groups who could and would push that line of thinking for the cause.

Edit: I do have to say though, it would be super easy to set them up over this.
not surprised by this
On Sunday, authorities revealed that at least one of the Paris terrorists entered Europe among the current wave of Syrians. He had falsely identified himself as a Syrian named Ahmad al Muhammad and was allowed to enter Greece in early October.
Over the weekend, a handful of U.S. governors either opposed taking in any Syrian refugees being relocated as part of a national program or asked that they be particularly scrutinized as potential security threats.

Here's my take on this whole middle east unrest situation:
We have 3 options - 1. Keep doing what we have been and pussyfoot around the issue, and more civilians will die. 2. Back off and take the isolationist approach, and more civilians will die. 3. Go in full force, with the entire military might if the US and the UN, and squeeze the area until we suffocate the problem entirely, and more civilians will die.
When did we forget, that in war civilians will undoubtedly become collateral damage? A few generations ago we wouldn't have taken this. The US would have rolled up in there and flattened the whole place because that's what it's going to take to fix the problem. Either that or wall it off and let it implode.
Any way you want to look at it a lot of people there aren't going to make it. It's high time we accepted that fact and start taking measures to insure it doesn't keep spilling over the borders and affecting everyone else.
