One of the poignant things I read in Cody Lundin's books is what do you do with the poop? We always think about food, water, shelter, but if you bug in and utilities or municipal services are interrupted, what do you do?  Four years ago, the water main near us broke and about a 6 block radius was without water for 4 days.  Had it been longer or more widespread it would have brought up these questions.
