Say that the shit does in fact hit the fan, and the country is in chaos. You wake up early one morning and turn on the news only to find out that the economy has collapsed, people are out in the streets shooting each other, and it appears that all your training and prepping is about to come in handy.
You walk outside and realize that the shit has not yet gotten crazy in your neighborhood. It's happening in the nearest big city but not yet where you live. This gives you some time.
What would you do? What's your plan?

I'd get my bug out bag(s) and load them into the car with all my guns and other weapons. I'd get as many tools as possible in there as well. 2 dogs and my fiancee can come too I guess, lol.
I'd load up my fiancee's car with as much food and water as possible (I keep a decent amount of canned goods in my crawl space). I'd throw on my police duty belt with my duty gun, mace, handcuffs and asp. All could come in handy should I be attacked. Off-duty pistol would be on my ankle and bullet proof vest under my shirt. I'd lock up my house as best as I can and then we're off to our bug out location.
Assuming we get there without being shot, it's a short 10 minute drive to my bug out location, which is my parent's house. They live on a nice piece of property that is very defendable. My house is on a main road in the middle of town, not a good spot to be if people are running around shooting each other. If it were a Jericho type situation then my house would be fine since I am near town center.
I'd immediately get to work with my father and brother in reinforcing the house. Mom and fiancee would get food and water ready and keep an eye on the news and what's happening. Preparations would be made for loss of power. At this time he does not have a generator (that will change) but we will assume by this time my father does have a generator there.
Hopefully my other brother would be able to make it here too (45 min drive) and I'm sure the in-laws would stop over. Luckily my parents have a big house. The pro's of more people is that we would be able to always have someone on watch. Both the front and rear of the properties would need to be kept watch over at all times.
I like to think that this plan would be good enough for me to ride out whatever type of issue could occur. My father has a large garden and plenty of woods for hunting. We'd have lots of guns and ammunition and plenty of canned foods. Should we lose power long term, the winter could prove to be a problem. That's something I'll have to think about for the future in my prepping.
I think its fun to think up certain scenarios and how we would react. Interested to see what your plans are, please share in this thread.

i am in the middle of the biggest city in the whole province. i would probably bring all food and camping gear i have and go to my godfather's cottage (2hrs drive) in the middle of the woods. Chances are that in the village near there people haven't even heard about what is going on.
For example, right now the students have been on strike since over 110 days. In my city, there have been protest/demonstrations every night for about 50 days, outside my city: nothing. This is not much but it kind of shows that if shit happens, it will happen here first and could be contained to my city for a little while before hitting remote areas.

Drive down to the end of my driveway where it meets the town road and lock the gate. Pop some popcorn and turn on the news.
On second thought, I would start calling oil customers and making deliveries to top everyone off starting with family and friends and work my way out. Using my best judgment on how things were going until things really start heating up. The last trip would be off road diesel and it would get backed in the garage for safe keeping.
On the truck I would be more heavily armed than usual and if someone was available I may have one of my gun slinger buddies ride shotgun as I would only be accepting cash at this point in the game.
I can only assume that any wrinkles in my networking plans would get ironed out in a hurry and plans B and C would become clarified as soon as the direction things were headed became clear.
I would regret not getting several items that would improve my quality of life in SHTF conditions, but overall, shy of a direct nuke attack, me and mine will be good to go.
As far as my other job goes, I would only be responding to real emergencies and depending how far along things have progressed I expect we would be partnered up while responding to calls. That is as long as the logistics of the agency held up. As a side note I have little faith local, county or state government will be holding up for any period of time during a real SHTF situation. After that I would continue my sworn duties in my AO as best I could.
