Fortunately it is not near me. But someone I know about ten miles down the raid had an oil spill on the property and the company never even told her about it!

It is one of the reasons that I like having rain water

the director of our water treatment plant was just in getting some take out, we were talking about this, he said if that happened here, we would have to dig a 8 mile pipeline to the next town, I think I'm gonna drill a well some time in the future

Not sure having a well would avoid this type of problem. That shit soaks right into the ground and contaminates the water table.

wow, I thought it was just municipal water drawing from the river, any idea the area that was affected by the gas station?

Ok, so I was a little wrong. The gas station incident happened here in MD several years ago. In the WV case, I'm not sure if it's well contamination or municipal, but it's a different chemical. I thought the 4-methylcyclohexane methanol spill was the same stuff as here in MD (MBTE). Never a bad idea to have a well, especially if you have a hand pump too, but just saying in some situations, it might not protect you from these type of incidents.
