I just hope we don't see an epidemic of developmentally disabled kids...it could be the 'polio' of the 21st century.

On Fox news today...at least 3 years before there is a vaccine for this.  Skeeters are bad: malaria, zika, west nile, EEE and more...I am building a couple of bat houses next weekend...I got to have enough scrap wood in the barn...just need black paint.

The whole aspect of Zika being transmitted by mosquitos reminds me of when the USA took over the Panama Canal Construction (from France maybe?)...at that time the workers were plagued by Malaria...the USA declared war on the mosquitos and went all out to minimize their population...it was not 100% eradication of course, but it was extremely effective in reducing the cases of malaria and the numbers of skeeters.  I don't see where a lot of the countries that are impacted have the money/man power to be this aggressive.  Plus, how do you truly get to all the rural areas and every pond and puddle to treat them...you don't...not a great outlook.
