Today's project was putting together my 2nd square foot garden bed. I started by grabbing my tools, basically a shovel, some kind of hoe type instrument, and a sledgehammer for stakes. I hammered in stakes to mark the perimeter of the bed and used the hoe to make a cut out.

After I finished that I realized I didn't have enough materials so I headed to Redneck Home Depot, conveniently located behind my house.

Gonna drop the center board in tomorrow and then haul up some manure from the pastures down the hill. I think there's a bed of compost right next to the bed I might use too.

So it was pretty rainy for the last few days, and I was caught up with some other housework, but today it was sunny (and I had some help) so I figured it was a good day to finish up my garden bed. The soil we have here has a lot of clay in it, and I noticed during the rains it was holding a lot of water. So I decided to start my day by poking some drainage holes in the beds. I basically dropped one in for every grid square so the drainage would be equal.
