Pinterest and its ilk have ruined good cooking and baking.  Make everything bigger and put salted carmel on it!!!!!!!!!!

My elderly neighbor made an egg custard pie yesterday and gave it to us.  She used an old French recipe she learned growing up in New Hampshire.  Made from scratch, simple, understated, delicious.

Love that gif KVR.   Sooooo appropriate.  My mom used to make an "egg custard" pie.  I put it in quotation marks because I'm not sure if it was true egg custard, or something that they just called egg custard, but damn it was good.  The other issue was that it was a pretty informal recipe, and sometimes it turned out, other times  . . . not so much.
