I have been wondering about the processing of acorn flower. We have saved a bunch up..my boy now sees one and picks them up. BUT we have not tried to make flour yet...ty guys for the great how to!
Speed, they need to be used fresh. Or at least shelled before you store them. It is best to plan to spend a few hours in a good spot collecting them at one time. Right after they fall is best before the shell turns brown and hard.
Often if you keep them too long you will find a worm hole in the shell. I don't use those.
It is a fun thing to so with kids. My grand kids helped in the collecting.
