Spotted... it works well with the regular raised beds. It really is simple too. Next time you start a new raisedbed, just throw in a layer of old firewood or brush or tree trimmings etc. In the bottom and throw dirt on top. It absolutely holds water down at the roots and prevents dry wilting plants. Saves me from carrying as much water.
it's how we did it, I should have gone with smaller stuff, but it's worked well so far
Hmmm. I could do that. But that looks like firewood to me!
Be RADICAL Grow Food
Yeah I know... who throws out firewood? Lol. In my case we had some firewood that someone gave us that didn't burn well because it had already started to rot. So felt good about using it for anything useful. Maybe just cut down a few Poplars into moveable size chunks and throw them in at least one bed to see how you like it...
On another note, I have my onions, garlic, bok choi, spinach, lettuce, and carrots in. I needed to get my peas in today and couldn't remember where I put my seeds! Sheesh, no brain left. Okra is huge, I have one squash plant so overgrown I bet it dies when I plant it. The plow we have doesn't fit our tractor and we need to plow a tater patch, so Sanford aka the hubby, rigged it up somehow on a pig pole. It will either work or it wont, lol. We shall see! Poor mans ingenuity... I still need more places to plant so we are scrambling this week to git r done.
Its about darn time WV gets a weather break!!!
