anyone use this method? I usually just fill the beds full of cardboard in the fall to overwinter, might try this method this year

The bottom of my beds has a thick layer of it covered with sand, silt & compost. I love cardboard for killing yeavy grass in new beds and grass out of pathways that I want mulched or gravelled.

I do the same, Spotted! I top with straw, compost, then soil though.  I don't have access to free sand or silt
